Doctor in Biology. Miguel Servet Researcher of the National Health System. Chief researcher of the research group in clinical molecular virology and new diagnosis tools in infectious pathology (Microbiology Service). Member of Group 27 of CIBER in Epidemiology and Public Health (CIBERESP) of Instituto de Salud Carlos III (chief researcher: Dr. Jordi Casabona, scientific director of CEEISCAT) and of the clinical microbiology and experimental infectious pathology Group (chief researcher: Dr. Vicenç Ausina, head of the Microbiology Service), a well-known research group financed by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Regional Government).
She does basic and applied research in the field of the hepatitis C virus, of which she studies the genetic variability related both to response to anti-virus treatment and the progression of hepatic fibrosis and molecular epidemiology. She investigates new tools and screening strategies of the active infection by hepatitis C outside the field of health. She also develops research in the field of improvement in the diagnosis of different infectious diseases through molecular biology, particularly in the field of sepsis. She is also dedicated to other subjects of research: human herpesvirus, HIV, molluscum contagiosumvirus, human papilloma virus and other sexually transmitted infections
