The Dermatology Service of the Germans Trias Hospital conducts intense research activity, participating in multiple competitive and collaborative projects, both nationally and internationally. The team is part of multicenter registries on psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, cutaneous lymphomas, hidradenitis suppurativa, and urticaria, consolidating the service as a reference in dermatological research. Studies on clinical biomarkers using "omics" and Big Data technologies stand out, as well as involvement in innovation projects, including artificial intelligence and virtual reality.

In addition, the service has established a management model with the hiring of data managers and data entry personnel, allowing better coordination in clinical trials and observational studies.

Research activity includes collaboration with other institutions such as the VHIR, the ICO, and the CNIO in genetic studies and innovative therapies for various skin diseases. This commitment to research is reflected in the publication of high-impact scientific articles and the training of young researchers through doctoral theses and competitive grants.

The service aspires to be recognized as a reference in its field, both locally, nationally, and internationally, standing out for its healthcare excellence, teaching capacity, research, and innovation. Its objective is to become a model of value-based medicine, in which quality, patient safety, and personalized care are fundamental pillars. This vision is complemented by active leadership within the hospital, aligned with the center's strategic lines in care, quality, and efficiency, with a clear vocation to promote new strategic alliances in the territory.

The service's professionals work in a multidisciplinary manner and with a high level of specialization in several areas of excellence, such as skin cancer (melanoma and non-melanoma), cutaneous lymphomas, pediatric dermatology, inflammatory dermatoses (such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, or autoimmune diseases), complex oncological surgery-including Mohs surgery-and the use of advanced technologies such as laser, phototherapy, digital dermatoscopy, or cutaneous ultrasound.

Likewise, the service actively participates in multidisciplinary clinical committees for the comprehensive management of complex cases in collaboration with other specialties. With a clear collaborative vocation, the Dermatology Service maintains outstanding strategic alliances, such as the one it has sustained since 2018 with the Maresme Health Consortium, with coordinated management between both institutions, and, more recently, since July 2024, with Badalona Gestió Assistencial.

These collaborations allow us to strengthen our territorial commitment and offer coordinated, efficient, and quality dermatological care. The service is committed to a healthcare model that promotes active patient participation in their health process and works constantly to position itself as a benchmark in innovation, clinical management, and research. This approach is based on the professional and human development of its members and promotes a culture based on equity, talent , and continuous improvement.
