Pedro Luis Fernández Ruiz

Head of the Pathological Anatomy Service of the Germans Trias Hospital

 

Specialist in Pathological Anatomy since 1990, he is the head of Service of the Germans Trias Hospital and professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Specialized in mammary pathology, prostate and molecular pathology. He was a Fogarty Fellow at the National Cancer Institute of NIH, Bethesda, USA, during 1990 and 1991. He joined the Hospital Clínic Provincial de Barcelona as a staff pathologist in 1991, where he worked until March 2018 with the degree of senior consultant and head of the Immunohistochemistry and Molecular Pathology section. He is the author of more than 150 scientific articles in prestigious indexed international journals, as well as 20 book chapters of both university and scientific texts and was principal investigator of 15 competitive research projects of national agencies. He has supervised 6 doctoral theses. He was coordinator of the National Network of Tumor Banks and the Network of Tumor Banks of Catalonia from 2006 to 2011 and evaluator of research projects at the Spanish Agency for Evaluation and Forecasting since 1999. He was responsible for the translation into Spanish of the 7th version of the book ‘Robbins y Cotran, Patologia Estructural y Functional, 7th Edition’, as well as a reviewer of multiple scientific journals.
